Events are being planned for Sept. in Crete with plenty for Doane students to enjoy.
The Crete Backpack Program is hosting the eight annual 5K Fun Run and Pancake Feed on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the United Church of Christ on 12 th and Ivy Street.
Pancakes will be served from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and the run/walk registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the event following at 8 a.m. The 5k run/walk costs $25 and the pancake feed is free will donation.
Employers from the area will gather and provide information about their businesses and job opening for anyone interested on Tuesday, Sept. 10. It will be located at the United Church of Christ in Crete from 2 to 4 p.m.
Join the Blue River Arts Council and Crete Fraternal Order of Eagles on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 to 11 p.m. for chicken wings, live entertainment and the auctioning of their three-foot cardinal sculptures.
Doane student Allison Baird will also be featured at the event talking about her passion for the arts and her pageant platform Little but Fierce.
Funds raised will help renovate and reopen the Isis Theater and also support future arts and entertainment events in our community. Test your Nebraska knowledge at the Everything Nebraska trivia night at the Brew House on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning team. This event is free and open to the public.
Another 5k/1-mile fun run or walk is also coming up in Crete. On Saturday, Sept. 28, at Tuxedo Park in Crete. Register by calling the Saline County Extension Office at (402) 821-2151 by Friday, Sept. 13.
