Doane's Got Talent wowed the crowd with talent and surprises

Lauren, Catie and Nina Theiler re-created a scene (Super-Trouper) from Mamma Mia in honor of their grandma who recently passed away. 

This years Doane’s Got Talent was held in Heckman Auditorium and hosted by Assistant Director of Career & Leadership Development Quint Geis.

Although there were only four acts in the talent show the acts were bursting with talent.

The four acts included:

  • Catie, Lauren and Nina Theiler, re-creating a scene (Super-Trouper) from mamma mia dedicated to their grandmother who recently passed away

  • Peter Strobel, singing a rendition of a Johnny Cash song in tribute to Weird Al

  • Maya Mohr, improvising a dance routine titled “Coffee”

  • Austin Sinn, singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver

The audience was a quaint crowd but it was if as the auditorium was packed to its limit with the amount of cheering and support from fellow Doane students screaming for their brave friends on stage.

The winners of the talent show won amazon gift cards.

3rd place Austin Sinn won a $15 gift card

2nd place Peter Strobel won a $25 gift card

1st place Maya Mohr won a $50 gift card

From the audience reaction it was clear that everyone there enjoyed the Doane’s Got Talent show.

“It was awesome I enjoyed going to it,” Junior Makenna Bartles said. “I look forward to it every year. My favorite act was “(Take Me Home), Country Roads” by Austin.”

Junior Karelian Mark also enjoyed the talent show.

“It was actually really really really good.” Mark said. “I was a big fan and I think everyone is super brave for going up there. It’s so fun to see your fellow Doane students up there performing, they were great. Also I gotta throw in a plug for Maya, she was amazing.”

Sophomore Alyssa Rood said “my favorite act was Maya she was really good but I was really surprised by Austin, I didn’t know he could sing so well.”
