Q&A with up and coming Doane rapper Young OT

We sat down with resident Doane rapper Jameson Officer-Thurston, rap name of Young O-T, he answered a few questions for us on his fledgling rap career.

Question: What made you want to get into rap?

Answer: The thing that made me want to get into rap was always listening to it on the radio and wanting to know how people actually made songs.


Question: Who are your biggest influences?

Answer: I would say some of my biggest influences music wise are probably Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Tyler the Creator, and A$AP Rocky.


Question: When did you know you wanted to be a rapper?

Answer: I think I knew I wanted to be a rapper when I was young, but didn’t actually start doing anything serious with it till I was a sophomore in high school.


Question: Do you have an ultimate goal set for yourself when it comes to rap or do you just do it for fun?

Answer: Personally I would like to make into a career if at all possible, whether it be by rapping or producing but regardless it’s something that I’ll be doing for fun the rest of my life.
