Interim Dean for Student Affairs, Abby Vollmer, will be departing Doane University after

accepting a position at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

An email sent to students from the Doane Student Affairs office on Nov. 11, stated

that Vollmer will serve as the Director of NASPA Advisory Services.

According to the NASPA website, “NASPA Advisory Services are designed to provide resources and guidance to divisions of student affairs and services inclusive of institutional mission, size, function, organization, and budget.”

Vollmer worked for Doane University for 11 years holding the positions “Admission

Counselor, Assistant Director of Hansen Leadership Program, Director of Hansen Leadership Program, and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs,” Vollmer said.

Long term decisions regarding the filling of her position will be determined by the Vice

President for Enrollment and Student Experience Jake Elswick, she said.

Some of Vollmer’s favorite memories at Doane include, “watching a senior Orientation Leader, who did not get to experience the candle-lighting ceremony as a first-year student due to inclement weather, be later moved to tears when he got to experience it as a student staff member,” she said.

Vollmer will miss working with the students the most and feels it has been a privilegecworking at Doane.

“It’s been such an honor to be a part of those incredible journeys,” said Vollmer.

Even though she won’t formally be a Tiger, this place and these people will always be

special to her and her family, she said.
