For professors and teachers, I can imagine the difficulty in motivation to keep up with students.

Professors face hectic schedules, hard course requirements and a long semester. It is important to remember to thank the professors going the extra mile for their students.

Professors hold extra office hours for students. They go the extra mile in grading or giving detailed essay responses. A motivated professor that cares about their students can be the difference between passing and failing.

I often hear tales of professors who either can’t make themselves available or are rarely present in the first place.

I feel comforted when hear stories of professors coming on the weekend or extending office hours. So, I know more students will have an opportunity to learn and grow.

This is when the onus falls back on the students. It is important to recognize when professors are willing to sacrifice personal time for your in-class success.

A simple “thank you” can go a long way, especially for a professor who is putting in extra time for the home stretch of the semester.

Now that we are in the last stretch of the school year, a professor’s extra attention can be a huge difference maker.

So don’t be afraid to take advantage of what academic support your professor offers, especially if it seems like more than average.

Use the tools given to succeed, but don’t forget about the people behind them. Make sure to appreciate the extra work put in to make them a reality.
