Men’s football regained their stride after a tough home loss to open their season. The Tigers travelled to Concordia University, and came home with a 17-10 win. Concordia scored first with a 27-yard field goal in the first quarter, while the Tigers quickly countered with a touchdown of their own to take the lead. Concordia would score again and took a 10-7 lead going into the halftime break.
The Tigers defense stepped up in the second half, causing four 3-and-outs, as well as preventing two fourth-down attempts. Scoring wouldn’t occur again until the fourth quarter, where the Tigers would score a touchdown and a field goal to seal their victory.
Quarterback Drake Davidson threw for 227 yards and a touchdown, while Kyle Jensen scored their other touchdown on a two-yard run. Bryce Cooney hit a 33-yard field goal to end the scoring on the game. Izaiah Celestine had a big day, receiving 139 yards on 6 catches.
Football will take on Division II school Tarleton State in Texas, who are currently ranked 5th in the polls.
