Both the Cheer and Dance teams hosted four teams total to compete in the Doane Invitational on January 27.
The Cheer team kicked things off, scoring 66.97 out of 100 possible points. Doane averaged a 7.2 in their pyramids, 7.3 in basket tosses, a 7.6 in choreography and an 8.5 in jumps. All of these categories were scored out of 10 points.
Cheer took home third with their score. Xavier University took home first with an im-pressive score of 91.20. They were followed by Northwestern College in second with a score of 73.78. Rounding things out in fourth was Dordt University, with a score of 62.33.
The Dance team followed the cheer competition, scoring 82.37 again out of 100 points. This score secured a Tiger victory as they averaged 8.2 in jazz technique, 8.1 in pom technique, 8.2 in hip hop technique, 8.8 in choreography and 8.8 in performance impression.
This was a sound victory for the Tigers over Dordt, who took second place with 64.23, and Hope International University, who took third place with 52.30.
Both teams will compete again in the York Crown Classic on February 9 in York, Nebraska.
