Track and Field adds seven national qualifiers

On Jan. 27 the Doane Tigers traveled to Seward, NE to compete in the Concordia Classic. Throughout this meet, a couple of competitors came home with a ticket to the National competition, along with great outcomes as well.

Starting on the Women’s side, sophomore Josie Garrett came home with a first place in the high jump having a height of 1.65m. Also walking away with a first place finish was freshman Kaylee Pribyl having a height of 3.72 in pole vault. Following Pribyl was sophomore Kennedy Stanley who had a height of 3.47m.

Transitioning over to the triple jump was sophomore Rosalyn Roggasch who had a mark of 11.52m, placing her at first. Behind Roggasch was sophomore Josie Garrett, having a mark of 11.49, placing her at second, and sophomore Kyla Davis in third with a jump of 10.95. Going into the long jump, the Tigers had junior Lindsay Adams, having a length of 5.47m placing her third. Finally, in the weight throw was junior Alyvia Thomas, throwing a 14.38m, which placed her eleventh.

Switching over to the running events the Tigers had freshman Neryah Hekl win the 60m dash with a time of 7.71, the fastest time in the GPAC so far. After that Adams ran the 200m having a time of 27.11, placing her ninth. Going into the 400m was freshman Kiley Hejtmanek, who had a time of 1:02.63 placing her sixth in this event.

In the 600m was freshman Chaney Nelson who had a time of 1:42.32 placing her third. Running in the 800m was freshman Emily Lytle having a time of 2:34.51, placing her fifth. Going into the distance running events, the Tigers first had sophomore Danie Parriott who ran in the 1000m with a time of 3:00.85 which put her in second place. Finishing the distance portion for the ladies was freshman Delaney Catron running in the mile having a time of 5:54.40, which placed her sixteenth.

Jumping over the hurdles in the 60m race was Garrett with a time of 9.33, placing her third and qualifying for nationals. The Tigers also had a 4x400m relay team which consisted of Hejtmanek, Nelson, sophomore Jerzi Maher, and Lytle, having a time of 4:13.09 which placed them at fourth.

Now going into the Men’s side, we start off with the track side. First the Tigers had junior JaDae Moore in the 60m dash having a time of 6.96, placing him third. Following Moore was sophomore Conner Bradly who ran in the 200m having a time of 22.96, which placed him fifth.

Going into the 400m was sophomore Joaquin Gutierrez who had a time of 49.21 which ended in him receiving first place and a trip to nationals. Following Gutierrez was senior Zach Turner who had a time of 49.26 who received second place and a trip to nationals as well.

Running in the 600m was freshman Eli Marez having a time of 1:25.14, placing fifth. And running in the 800m was senior Duncan Blankenship who had a time of 2:01.10, which placed him fifth as well.

Transitioning over to the distance running was sophomore Emmanuel Yego, who ran in the 100m with a time of 2:30.86, placing him second and a spot at nationals. Running in the 3000m was sophomore Nelson Ruto with a time of 8:49.51, placing him fifth. And finally was senior Thomas Oliver who received first place with a time of 15:22.64.

The Men’s team also had a 4x400m team which consisted of Gutierrez, Marez, Yego and senior Chris Vincent having a time of 3:23.53 and placing them first. Running over the hurdles was Turner who ran the 60m in 7.88, finishing him in first place and securing the top NAIA time in the nation.

Transitioning into the field events, the Tigers started off in the pole vault with Senior Mike Pulliam having a height of 4.85m, placing him second. Following Pulliam was freshman Peyton Herrick who had a height of 1.92m, placing him third.

Moving over to long jump, freshman Cameron Leeling had a jump of 6.52m placing him fourth. In the triple jump the Tigers had senior Vince Lauenroth jumping 13.88m, who walked away with first place.

Over to shot put was freshman Tad Dimmitt who threw a 14.12m placing him ninth. Going into the weight throw was sophomore Carson Lavaley who threw a 14.63m, which also placed him ninth.

On Feb. 3, the Tigers will be competing in the Fred Beile Classic at home.
