Men’s Tennis starts spring season

The Men’s Tennis team opened their spring season in Kearney, Nebraska. The Tigers faced off against University of Nebraska-Kearney and were handed a tough loss of 6-1 on the road.

In singles action, all but one Tiger struggled to find success against the Lopers. Both junior Jose Purizaca and sophomore Diego Infante were defeated 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Elliot Dassel saw a close match in the first set but would fall in both sets, 6-3, 6-1.

Senior Federico Infante fell 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Andre Hartman was also defeated 6-1, 6-1. Only senior Esteban Gutierrez was victorious in Kearney, dropping the first set 4-6 but bouncing back in the second to win 6-4. In the tiebreak, Gutierrez won after defeating his opponent 10-8.

The Tigers were unable to find success in the doubles action. Federico Infante and Diego Infante were defeated 6-1. The pairs of Gutierrez and Purizaca as well as Hartman and Dassel were defeated 6-2.

The Men’s Tennis team will be back looking for a spring victory on February 17 once again in Kearney, Nebraska against Bethel College.
