TRIO prepares for trip to Disney

As spring break nears, many students are beginning their plans for travel during their time off. This also includes trips coordinated through Doane.

One of these spring break trips is traveling to Disney parks.

Through the Academic Success Center, TRIO students are taking a trip to the Disney Imagination Campus.

The goal of this experience is to “gain exposure to different careers, foster academic excellence and inspire their imagination,” according to the Academic Engagement Coordinator Jovany Chavez who is facilitating the planning of the trip.

During their time at Disney Imagination Campus, students will be going to different workshops. These include traveling to Epcot and Magic Kingdom parks to learn about leadership and teamwork.

The three workshops that students will be attending include Leadership the Disney Way at Epcot Center, Theme Park Design at the Magic Kingdom and Teamwork the Disney Way at Hollywood Studios.

The goal of Disney Imagination Campus is to get students to experience new skills and open their minds to new careers that they might not be regularly exposed to.

Chavez’s hope is that students participating in this experience will gain “valuable insights” into their career paths post-college and will motivate students to “strive for academic success.”

To prepare for this trip Chavez has been doing research into the different Disney Imagination Campus workshops. Chavez has also worked on planning flights, hotel accommodations, meals and the necessary paperwork to get this trip off the ground.

The trip is scheduled from March 9 to March 13.

Students who have any questions about the trip can direct their questions to Chavez at jovany.chavez@doane.edu.
