Sophomore Morgan Mahoney reaches back to receive a hand-off from Senior Isabel Bothwell in the 4x100m Relay. Doane went on to win this event with a time of 48.23.
On March 30, the Tigers traveled to Kearney to compete in the Central Nebraska Challenge. Starting off in the field events was the pole vault where freshman Kaylee Pribyl cleared a height of 4.00m which not only put her in first place but also got her into the NAIA nationals.
Staying in jumps, sophomore Josie Garrett had a mark of 11.26m in the triple jump, which placed her second. In the long jump was junior Lindsay Adams where she had a mark of 5.45m, placing second and finally in the high jump was senior Jastiny Jackson with a mark of 1.60m, placing her third.
In throws, the events were in categories of open and invitational. Open category consists of the bottom 90% of throwers and the invitational category consists of the top six in their own flights. In the invitational shot put was junior Alivia Baucom who had a mark of 12.55m placing her third, and in the open shot put was freshman Natylie Myer who had a mark of 11.89m, placing her second.
Going into the invitational discus was Baucom with a mark of 41.39m, placing her sixth, and in the open discus was freshman Delaney Burge with a mark of 37.56m, placing her fourth. In the invitational hammer throw was senior Macy Fuller who had a mark of 52.39m placing her second and qualified for nationals as well. And in the open hammer throw was sophomore Mia Knigge who had a throw of 46.01m, placing her second.
Placing fifth in the invitational javelin was senior Molly Vander Hamm who had a throw of 37.64m, and in the open javelin was freshman Kalli Sutton who had a throw of 33.60m placing her second.
Transitioning over to the track events, first competing in the 100m dash was freshman Neryah Hekl having a time of 12.51 seconds, placing her sixth. In the 200m having a time of 25.14 seconds was sophomore Kat Vogt who placed fourth, Vogt also ran in the 400m where she had a time of 57.22 seconds which placed her in the NAIA provisional qualifying time.
In the 800m was sophomore Danie Parriott who had a time of 2:23.46, placing her sixth. Running in the 1500m was freshman Laura Hasemann who had a time of 5:23.57, placing her twelfth.
Jumping over the hurdles was freshman Chaney Nelson where she placed sixth in the 100m having a time of 16.58 and in the 400m she had a time of 1:07.00 where she took home second.
Running in the 4x100m was senior Isabel Bothwell, sophomore Morgan Mahoney, Adams, and Hekl who had a time of 48.23 placing them first.
Now going to the men’s side, we are first starting off with the field events. In the high jump the Tigers had senior Carter Reckling and junior Dylan Starr, who both cleared a mark of 2.05m placing Reckling second and Starr third.
In the pole vault was sophomore Branson McDonald had a height of 4.50m placing him fourth. In the long jump was freshman Micheal Willey, who had a jump of 6.51m, placing him eighth. And in the triple jump was senior Tevor Malone who had a mark of 13.92m, placing him second.
Going into throws was freshman Tad Dimmitt in the open shot put with a mark of 14.43m and in the invitational shot put was sophomore Cale Bessler who had a mark of 15.13m, placing him second. In open discus was freshman Jaden Vollenweider who had a mark of 43.73m and in the invitational was junior Trey Dickey who had a mark of 44.68m, placing him fourth.
In open hammer throw was Vollenweider who had a mark of 46.59m, placing him second and in the invitational hammer throw was senior Jaedon Lothrop who had a mark of 48.70m, placing him fifth. Also throwing in the javelin was freshman Mason Crumbliss who had a mark of 45.87m, placing him sixth.
Running over to the track events, running in the 100m dash was sophomore Connor Bradley who had a time of 10.87 seconds, placing him third. In the 200m was sophomore Caleb Mulder who had a time of 22.27 seconds, placing him sixth.
Taking home first in the 400m with a time of 47.98 was sophomore Joaquin Gutierrez. And finishing ninth in the 800m with a time of 1:57.40 was sophomore Emmanuel Yego. In the 1500m was senior Thomas Oliver who had a time of 4:05.56, placing him fifth and in the 5000m Oliver had a time of 16:07.52, placing tenth.
Running in the 110m and 400m hurdles was senior Zach Turner who walked away with first in both races. In the 110m Turner had a time of 13.89 seconds and in the 400m he had a time of 53.05 seconds, both qualifying Turner for nationals.
In the 4x100m was Gutierrez, junior JaDae Moore, senior Chris Vincent, and Bradley, who had a time of 41.67 seconds.
On April 5 and 6 the Tigers will be traveling to Seward to compete in the Concordia Invitational.
