Student Congress (StuCo) officially announced the new executive team the morning of April 15.
Junior Blake Skoumal was elected as president and sophomore Devin Avedissian was elected as Vice President. In addition to the president and vice president, the secretary and treasurer were also voted on and elected. Sophomores Ella Frederick was elected secretary and Brayden Boehle was elected treasurer.
For Skoumal, getting elected was exciting especially considering who he was running against was also so qualified. Junior Lindsey Udell also ran for president.
“I’m ecstatic [about getting elected for president],” Skoumal said. “Lindsey was such a strong candidate and I commend her for running and I know she would have been just as influential as myself in this position.”
Skoumal is also very excited to be working with the new executive team.
“Together we look to instill pride in the Doane community through the events and allocation we provide. I can’t thank the student body enough for this opportunity and I am ready to hit the ground running,” Skoumal said.
For Avedissian, getting this position will be a great opportunity.
“I feel like it proves that people support and believe in me to help make Doane a better environment where we can all strive to be great and happy together and I don’t want to let them down for that,” Avedissian said.
Together Skoumal and Avedissian are preparing for their positions to start at the end of this year in addition to the rest of the team.
StuCo also sent out an email to all students to elect their 10 senators. The email was sent out April 15. Students can fill out the form to pick which senators they would like to represent them in the upcoming academic year.
