Track and Field wins big in Lincoln

Junior Dylan Starr won the Men’s high jump after he cleared a height of 2.07m.

On April 12, the Tigers traveled to Lincoln to compete in the Nebraska Wesleyan Dual where the Men’s final score was 117-67 and the Women’s was 109-78.

Starting off in the field events was senior Sarah Theiler in the Women’s high jump having a mark of 1.61m which ended her with first place. Placing first in the Men’s high jump was junior Dylan Starr who had a mark of 2.07m.

In the Women’s pole vault freshman Kaylee Pribyl placed first after she vaulted a height of 3.90m, sophomore Kennedy Stanley took second with a clearance of 3.68m. In the Men’s pole vault senior Mike Pulliam took first after he cleared a height of 4.25m.

Sophomore Josie Garrett won the Women’s long jump with a mark of 5.37m. For the Men’s long jump, freshman Michael Willey got second with a mark of 6.51m.

Winning the triple jump for women was Garrett with a mark of 11.69m. Getting second on the men’s side was senior Trevor Malone with a mark of 13.67m.

For Women’s shot put, junior Alivia Baucom won with a mark of 13.47m. On the Men’s side, freshman Tad Dimmitt got second place with a mark of 14.58m.

In Women’s discus, Baucom won with a mark of 43.42m, and in Men’s discus, junior Trey Dickey won with a mark of 48.05m.

Senior Macy Fuller broke her school record again in the Women’s hammer throw with a mark of 56.35m, which also got her first. Dickey also placed high in the Men’s hammer throw, getting first with a mark of 54.48m.

In Women’s javelin, freshman Delaney Burge got a mark of 36.12m, which got her third place. On the Men’s side, freshman Mason Crumbliss got a mark of 52.07m, winning him the event.

Transitioning into track events, winning the Women’s 100m dash was freshman Neryah Hekl 12.15, in Men’s 100m dash JaDae Moore secured a first-place finish with a time of 10.88. In the Women’s 200m dash sophomore Morgan Mahoney ran a time of 25.77 which secured her a first-place finish. Sophomore Connor Bradley secured first place in the Men’s 200m with a time of 21.69.

Doane had a strong showing in the 400m, with two athletes securing NAIA automatic qualifying marks. In the Women’s 400, sophomore Katie Vogt ran a time of 55.86 and placed second, she is currently sitting 10th in the national rankings. Sophomore Joaquin Gutierrez won the Men’s 400 with a 47.73 and is currently sitting 12th in the NAIA. Placing second in the Women’s 800m with a time of 2:29.98 was sophomore Danie Parriott and winning the Men’s 800m was sophomore Emmanuel Yego, who had a time of 1:55.50.

Doane secured wins in the 1500m with Parrot winning the Women’s 1500m with a time of 5:05.52 and Senior Thomas Oliver won the Men’s 1500 with a time of 4:10.86. In the 5000m sophomore Calla Wittland placed second after running a time of 20:09.89 and sophomore Nelson Ruto ran a time of 15:22.65 which placed him first.

Jumping over into hurdles Garret won the Women’s 110m with a time of 14.64 and senior Zach Turner won the Men’s 110m hurdles with a time of 13.98. Turner also ran in the Men’s 400m hurdles where he had a time of 52.09 and freshman Chaney Nelson ran the Women’s 400m hurdles 1:05.59, both finished in first.

Concluding the meet was the 4x100m and the 4x400m relays, starting with the Women’s 4x100m, the team consisting of senior Isabel Bothwell, Mahoney, Vogt, and Hekl who had a time of 46.65, a school record. In the Women’s 4x400m was Nelson, Vogt, freshman Kiley Hejtmanek, and Parriott who had a time of 3:57.72, placing them first. In the Men’s 4x400m, the team was Gutierrez, senior Chris Vincent, sophomore Caleb Mulder, and Turner who had a time of 3:15.00.

On April 18-20, the Tigers will be staying home to compete in the Jim Dutcher Classic and John Green Combined Events.
