The Men’s and Women’s Golf teams have had a very successful spring season so far and are looking to continue their winning streak. The Women’s team posted great individual results despite only playing one day of their competition while the Men’s team finished sixth as a team.
The Women’s team hosted the Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invite on April 15 and 16, but storms and winds would cancel the second day of play. As a team, the Tigers A team posted a score of 366 to finish in sixth place.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Dumler finished in second place overall with a score of 81 and right behind her was teammate Laura Ruiz with a score of 92 to take 25th place. Freshman Payton Morgan tied for 30th with an overall score of 96.
One point behind her was freshman Lainey Madill with a 97 which tied her for 33rd place. Junior Emma Sheaffer also tied for 36th place with a score of 98.
Meanwhile, the B team earned a score of 436 which put them in 10th place as a team. Senior Ivana Lopez was leading this team with a score of 102 and a placement of 41st. Freshman Kendall Velder was just three sports behind her in 44th after earning a score of 103.
Freshman Savannah Allgeyer tied for 51st with a score of 112 while sophomore Savannah Franzoy scored 119 and finished in 56th place.
The Men’s team was in Waterloo, Iowa this past weekend to compete in the Waterloo Intercollegiate Invitational. As a team, they posted a three-day score of 917 which earned them sixth. Senior Ryan Weiss led the Tigers with a score of 227 which placed him in 15th.
Junior Noah Miller competed with an individual status and placed 24th with a score of 230. Sophomore Julius Rauter was next for Doane in 27th place with a score of 231. Freshmen Jack Millard and Joshua Wassmer tied each other in 32nd with a score of 232. Junior Sam Arnold scored 241 and placed him in 51st. Senior Garrett Dalton rounded out placements in 42nd with a score of 234.
The Women’s Golf team will next compete in the Great Plains Athletic Conference championship on April 22 and 23 in Spencer, Iowa. The Men’s Golf team competes in a duel against Concordia University on April 25 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
