The Advancement Office has been hard at work planning Senior Week and preparing for the upcoming senior gift campaign.
Senior Week will be held May 6 through May 9 as a way to celebrate the seniors and send them off in style, according to Director of Alumni Engagement Michelle Faltin.
Senior Week will kick off on May 6, when there will be yard games, champagne toasts, food, gift card giveaways and more at Frees Field.
May 7 will feature the forbidden campus tour, where students can have the opportunity to see things on campus that they might not have gotten the chance to see or where student access might have been restricted.
On the morning of May 8, there will be a coffee truck and donuts for seniors to indulge in and the week will conclude with bar night on May 9 at Eagles bar. Bar night will feature drinks and pizza.
“[This week is] really just a celebration for all seniors to talk about the successes that you’ve had as students. Trials, tribulations but also successes,” Faltin said.
Simultaneously, while senior week is going on and for the following week after, the Advancement Office will be working on the Senior Campaign.
The Senior Campaign is an opportunity where seniors can give back to their university. Every year, seniors are asked to make a gift for their graduating year. This year’s seniors will be asked to donate $20.24. Yet whatever students have the ability to donate will be accepted and appreciated.
“You have things available to you as a student because of the people before you that have given back to the institution,” Faltin said.
The goal according to Senior Marketing and Brand Specialist Michael Stehlik is to get 50 percent of the senior class to donate. Each student who donates gets a philanthropy cord for graduation. Last year 64 percent of the graduating class donated and the year before that 74 percent donated.
“It’s more about the idea of starting early, making an impact and showing that you really appreciate your university,” Stehlik said.
Seniors will be receiving all of this information via their email with finalized dates and times as well as the website to donate.
Students will also be reminded of the senior campaign at the senior toast which will be hosted at President Roger Hughes’ house this year.
Any questions can be directed to Faltin or Stehlik.
