The Softball team had a weekend full of doubleheaders, starting in Jamestown, North Dakota, before moving on to Mitchell, South Dakota. The Tigers split their doubleheaders, winning one against each opponent.
Doane started the week against University of Jamestown. The first game was incredibly defensive as neither team was able to get on the board until the sixth inning. The Tigers earned a single run in that inning, but the Jimmies took the lead with two runs in the sixth inning.
Jamestown stayed ahead 2-1 to take the victory in game one. In game two, both teams improved their offensive efforts. Doane got on the board first again, this time with a run in the second inning but the Jimmies were soon to answer with a run of their own in the third.
In the fourth inning, the Tigers had a great performance, earning four runs to go up 5-1. They added another run in the fifth inning, and despite a late push by the Jimmies, Doane still won the game 6-3.
Doane then took on Dakota Wesleyan University, starting off the first game with a run in the second inning. DWU answered with two runs of their own in the second. Dakota Wesleyan continued to push their lead further with three runs in the fourth inning. The Tigers tried to retake the lead with two runs in the sixth inning, but DWU added two of their own in the sixth. Doane dropped their first game 3-7 before moving on to the second game against Dakota Wesleyan.
Game two kicked off with a run in the first inning and a run in the second by DWU. However, the fourth inning saw the Tigers earn themselves five runs. Despite a single-run answer in the fourth inning, Doane added three more in the fifth inning.
One more run was put up by Dakota Wesleyan in the sixth inning, but Doane completed the shut out with four runs in the seventh inning. The Tigers would win game two 12-4.
