Clothing drive aims to keep students warm

As it gets colder, some Doane staff and students are working to keep people warm. Mary Blackledge and her LAR 202 class are partnering with the McKinney Vento program through Crete Public Schools and Doane Student Health to donate gently used or even new winter coats and other winter clothing. This includes hats, jackets, long sleeves, pants, gloves, scarves and new socks.

Any donated items in sizes M-L and larger will be donated back to the students here at Doane. This event will run from October to Thanksgiving break. Bins will be set up this week and posters will be hung around campus to remind everyone about the winter clothing drive. The locations of the bins around campus will be in the entrances of Brodie, Smith, Sheldon, Frees and Hansen. Other locations will include the Perry Campus Center and Great Hall Communications Building.

This is an opportunity to help out the community and ensure that people stay warm during the winter. Any gently used or new winter clothing items that aren’t used or wanted anymore will be accepted. If you have any questions, reach out to Blackledge.
