Doane University will host a career fair in Nyrop Hall on Oct. 16. This event is ideal for students seeking jobs, pursuing internships or wanting to explore more career paths. A total of 41 companies will participate including State Farm, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and Netlet.

Students can register through links provided in their emails, which will direct them to Handshake, an online platform used by colleges and universities to find job opportunities. Handshake is an excellent tool for students to explore potential employers and network with alumni or professionals in their fields of interest.

Registered students are encouraged to review the list of attending employers on Handshake. They can also schedule a review of their resume by career consultants on the website. Additionally, students should prepare a 30-second introduction of who they are, their interests in specific companies and questions they have for employers.

The Career Development at Doane (career@doane.edu) has been sending students regular emails featuring employer connection spotlights. These emails include job and internship opportunities, with details like job requirements, location, pay, responsibilities and application links.

This is a great way for students to boost their careers in the workforce, and they are encouraged to join the event.
