Soccer loses to GPAC rivals at home

On Oct. 16, Men’s Soccer faced Concordia University, where within the first 45 minutes of the game there wasn’t a single goal made. However, going into the second half of the game, the Bulldogs were able to score three goals, one from Concordia’s Ryan Wokutch in minute 72’ and the other two by Martin Herrera in minutes 83’ and 85’.

Concordia managed to have 18 total shots with 10 of them being on the goals, while the Tigers only had two shots with one being on the goal. Senior Samuel Montanez, who was the goalkeeper for this game, had a total of seven saves.

On Oct. 19, the Tigers traveled to Orange City, Iowa to compete against Northwestern College, where the Tigers were defeated with the final score being 1-6.

Starting for the first half of the game, Northwestern shot their first three goals in minutes 9’, 15’ and 31’.

Going into the second half of the game, junior Luis Rejano Candau passed the ball behind the Red Raiders’ defense, and senior Ameer Madden centered the ball for junior Nicolas Jones to receive the first goal for the Tigers. This was also Jones’s second goal of the year, and Madden and Rejano Candau were able to receive an assist.

On Oct. 26, the Tigers will travel to Hastings, NE. to compete against Hastings College with kickoff set at 8:00 p.m.

On Oct. 16, Women’s Soccer faced Concordia University, where the Tigers were defeated by the Bulldogs with a final score being 1-2.

Going into the first half of the game, junior MaKenna Rathbun passed the ball to junior Celeste Galvan who made the first goal of the game in minute 14’. Rathbun also got the ball into the goal, however, the refs ruled that it didn’t pass the goal line. Towards the end of the first half in minute 38’, Concordia’s Savannah Andrews scored, making the score 1-1.

Going into the second half of the game, Concordia took the lead after shooting a goal in minute 77’ by Concordia’s Kierstynn Garner. Ending the game, the Tigers had 11 total shots with seven being on the goal, while Concordia had eight total shots with six of them being on the goal.

On Oct. 19, the Tigers traveled to Orange City, Iowa to compete against Northwestern College, where the Tigers were able to walk away with a win, 1-0.

In the first half of the game, freshman Hayle Brodine was able to score the first and only goal of the game in minute 23’. Ending the game, the Tigers finished with 15 total shots with four of them being on the goal, while the Red Raiders had a total of 10 shots with six of them being on the goal.

However, during the whole game, the Tigers backline which consisted of seniors Brooklyn Mercurio, Payton Cooley, Grace Dowding and Natalie Dye, along with the midfielders juniors Gisselle Martinez and Rathbun, didn’t allow the Red Raiders a single corner kick.

On Oct. 26, the Tigers will be traveling to Hastings, NE to compete against Hastings College, with the kick-off set for 5:30 p.m.
