Students look for future careers

Students, staff and employers gather in Perry to hopefully get students future career connections.

On Oct. 16 Doane University hosted its highly anticipated Employee Connections Meeting, an event aimed at bridging the gap between students and potential employers. The gathering brought together a diverse range of companies, each represented by professionals eager to connect with students, share insights about their organizations, and discuss available full-time, part-time, and internships.

Hundreds of students from different fields attended the event. This gave students a great chance to network, explore career alternatives, ask questions, and learn more about the experiences and talents businesses seek. With the opportunity to speak with recruiters and hiring managers face-to-face, this event was a pivotal moment in the job search for many students, particularly seniors who were about to graduate. Students can easily obtain information from the booths set up by businesses from a wide range of fields, including technology, finance, healthcare, education and more. Companies catered to students at various phases of their academic and professional journeys by providing internships, part-time jobs and entry-level full-time careers. While some reps emphasized the flexibility and experience that come with working part-time while in college, many others emphasized the advantages of internships as stepping stones to full-time employment.

After attending the event, students had a better awareness of the employment market and their options. Doane University’s dedication to fostering students’ career development and laying the groundwork for future success was reinforced at the Employee Connections Meeting. With so many options available, students are now more capable of making well-informed choices on their future careers.
