On Thursday, Oct. 17, Doane Student Programming Board, SPB hosted a Country Dance Western Night where they had events such as line dancing, games, giveaways, free airbrush t-shirts, and a mechanical bull for the students to enjoy. This event is always a hit for the students, and some students even like to dress the part.
The weather was a little brisk for the events of the evening which altered some outfit
choices for the students but they made it work. Most said that sweatpants or jeans were their go-to due to the cold weather and their desire to be comfortable on the dance floor. There was a variety of outfits ranging from flannels to cowboy hats paired with boots. Here’s a rundown of what many students selected for their attire:
Sophomore Rio Ruotsala wore a Bronco crew neck paired with tan sweatpants and her roommate’s ball cap. She liked her outfit because it was country, yet was still comfortable.
“I thought comfy country was perfect for the dance floor,” Ruotsala said.
Freshmen Izzie Caranna and Lexie Heilbrun matched in their new customized airbrushed t-shirts that they had designed at the event. They paired their shirts with boot cut jeans, a ball cap, and boots.
Junior Amy Parra and sophomore Hailey Romero wanted to match and dress up for the western event, so they decided to go for a classic, yet western look. They wore a black shirt paired with a black cowgirl hat, boot cut jeans and boots.
Junior, Cooper Spaulding wore a brown and tan flannel with an Ariot black coat over top.
For bottoms, he selected jeans and his favorite boots. He also decided to wear this outfit to classes for the day so the transition from day to night was easy for him.
Junior Makaiya De La Cruz wore her homecoming shirt from this year paired with a belt, ripped flare jeans and her Twisted X Hooey boots. Senior Andrea Jones wore a black tank top with a pink floral shirt over top. She paired the top with jeans and boots.
