On Nov. 12, the Student Programming Board (SPB) hosted “Painting with a Twist”, a night full of painting and music. Starting at 7:00 p.m. at Lakeside, the students gathered to pick tote bags and paint them. The event even included a performance by Wildwoods.
Painting with a twist has been a recurring event throughout the years, but this year, tote bags were the main activity.
“We wanted students to be able to paint something that they would also be able to use in their daily lives,” organizer junior Emma Jenkins said.
“Painting with a Twist” has been a beloved semester tradition for SPB, offering students a creative outlet and a chance to unwind. This time, tote bags were chosen as the centerpiece activity, allowing participants to paint something both unique and practical for everyday use. The painting was completely free-form, and it was incredible to see the variety of designs students came up with, showcasing their creativity.
“Painting with a Twist” was a big success this semester, several students attended and painted their provided tote bags. The Wildwoods were the highlight of the night, offering the perfect mix of relaxation and good vibes that students really needed at this point in the semester. SPB did an amazing job creating a cozy, welcoming atmosphere where everyone could relax, enjoy the moment, and forget about the stress of classes for a little while.
This event is special because of its flexibility, it offers something different for everyone. Whether students come to express themselves artistically, spend time with friends, or simply take a break, the goal is for everyone to leave feeling fulfilled. SPB is excited to bring “Painting with a Twist” back in the spring with a fresh craft and look forward to continuing to create spaces where students can relax, connect, and have fun.
