Over the past couple of weeks, the Tigers have faced a variety of different competitors. But for senior Ashlee Palimo’o and sophomore Kim Navarrete, their goal this season is not only to improve but also to try some new techniques.
“I have been trying out some new techniques to see what works best for me,” Palimo’o said. “But I think my biggest improvement this year is my understanding of wrestling. I still have a long way to go, but it has helped me grow a lot more as a wrestler since I have started.”
Now for Navarrete, she has been seeking constant improvement every time she gets to compete, all while getting out of her comfort zone and seeing what she is capable of.
“This season, I would say I definitely improved in the aspects of technique,” Navarrete said. “But something bigger I would say was learning to be mentally stronger.”
However, Palimo’o and Navarrete keep themselves very busy during meets. For Palimo’o, she is careful with what she consumes whether it is mentally, emotionally or physically. But for Navarrete, she puts her headphones on until her next match.
For the Tigers’ next match, they are set to take on William Penn University at home, with start times of 5 and 6 p.m. It will also be Senior Night for both the Men’s and Women’s teams.
