Some time ago, I thought of taking advantage of everything I do in my daily routine. This can be done with small details, which seem insignificant to many but are not. So, an essential “small detail” that I have been starting to do is to approach what I watch on TV. A great decision was to start watching “Break Point,” a tennis Netflix show, that encompasses a lot of things in the life of an athlete, but clearly focusing on tennis. At first, I was not very attracted to the idea since my sport is soccer, but the show is truly amazing.
“Break Point” is a show that, as I already mentioned, encompasses a lot of things that can be very beneficial for any athlete. This Netflix show is about the day-to-day life of the different professional tennis players in their different tournaments throughout the year, trainings, and their personal life with their family, friends, and coaches. Firstly, a really good point about “Break Point” is that there are a lot of players who fully open up and share their personal experiences and thoughts, these include stories of true overcoming and that really motivate anyone. It is not always possible to see the human side of great professional athletes and this show pays great attention to this.
Secondly, “Break Point” also explains crucial aspects of professional sports, such as sponsorships, prize money and social exposure. For example, there is a big financial gap between elite players and those struggling to achieve a better ranking. This show also opened the doors to less recognized players with lower rankings who may go far in the future.
Thirdly, this Netflix show explains the huge importance of tennis coaches and the team to success. Currently, in the elite sport, there is not only one person in charge of the player. The teams rely on coaches, physical trainers, psychologists, and analysts. Good performance and achievement is not only the result of a great work of the player, who is obviously the most important piece, but also of a whole team behind the athlete.
In conclusion, I highly recommend “Break Point” to everyone, but specifically to every athlete because this show could be helpful and useful to achieve great things.
