On March 6-8, the Men’s Wrestling team traveled to Wichita, Kansas, to compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Championships, where they walked away in fourth overall.
Starting off in the 125, was senior Hunter Bennett and freshman Brian Peck. Peck lost his first round of Champs bracket, but Bennett made it into the second round by a forfeit but didn’t make it to the third round. The same thing happened to junior Matthew Terrence who won his first round in the 133 but lost his second round.
Going into the 141 was junior Devin Avedissian who won his first round, however in the second round he was defeated. Making it to the third round in the 149 bracket was senior Nate Lendt, where he walked away in 6th. In the 157 was junior Ben Miller who made it to the second round, but was unable to make it to the third round.
Competing in the 184 was seniors Kolton Kammeyer and Tyson Beauperthuy. Kammeyer was defeated in his first round, however Beauperthuy made it into the fifth round, where he walked away in second.
In the 197 was returning seniors Bradly Antesberger and Kasten Grape. Both Grape and Antesberger made it to the fourth round, however they were unable to advance into the next round with Grape in third and Antesberger in fourth.
Finishing up in the 285 was sophomore Eli Criblez, who competed in the first round but was unable to advance into the second round.
With that being said, this concludes the Men’s Wrestling season with the Women’s Wrestling traveling to Wichita, Kansas to compete in their NAIA Championship on March 14-15.
