
On March 6-8, the softball team traveled to Branson, Missouri, to take on a variety of colleges including the University of St. Mary, Evangel University, Kansas Wesleyan University, Graceland University and Our Lady of the Lake University.
Starting this competition, the Tigers played two games against St. Mary. Starting off in the first game, at the bottom of the first inning, senior Anna Prauner scored, making the score 1-0. Adding two more runs at the bottom of the second was sophomore Jeryn Allen and senior Grace Dowding, which brought the score to 3-0. However, in the top of the third, the Spiros added their first run of the game. The game ended with a final score of 3-1.
In their second game against the Spiros, in the top of the first inning, freshman Milannie Gonzalez scored bringing the score to 1-0. But in the bottom of the first the Spiros added two runs to their score, along with adding another score in the bottom of the second, which brought the score to 1-3.
Fast forward to the top of the fifth inning, junior Hannah Pack added another run to the score, bringing it to 2-3. However, in the bottom of the fifth, the Spiros added another run, bringing the final score to 2-4.
Going into their third game of the competition was against Evangel, where in the top of the second, fifth, and sixth innings, the Valors scored eight runs bringing the score to 0-8. Going into the bottom of the sixth, Allen, Pack, and freshman Kayla Meyer scored a run each, however that brought the final score to 3-8.
Transitioning into their second game of the day, this one was against Kansas Wesleyan. During the game, Kansas Wesleyan had four runs with one being in the bottom of the first, while the other three were in the bottom of the fifth. However, the Tigers were unable to score, which brought the final score to 0-4.
On the last day of the competition, the Tigers first took on Graceland. In the top of the fourth inning, freshman Lexi Adams scored, bringing the score to 1-0. However, in the bottom of the fourth the Yellowjackets added two runs to their score, bringing the score to 1-2. But in the top of the seventh, Meyer hit a homer, which brought the score to 2-2, and finishing off the game in the bottom of the eighth, senior Marisa Marquez scored, bringing the final score to 3-2.
Finishing up the competition, the Tigers took on Our Lady of The Lake. Starting off in the top of the second and fifth innings, the Saints scored twice, bringing the score to 0-2. In the bottom of the fifth, junior Faith Molina hit a homer, which brought the score to 1-2. But in the top of the seventh, the Saints scored, bringing the final score to 1-3.
Next up, the Tigers will be competing at home against Briar Cliff University on March 14 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., along with Northwestern College on March 15 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
