On March 22, the Doane Student Programming Board (SPB) hosted The Great Crete Escape, a field trip to Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Nebraska. Spencer Munson, Assistant Director of Campus Engagement, helped oversee the event and assisted students, ensuring everyone had a great time.
Students were able to take a shuttle to the event or carpool. Though many other birthday parties and groups were in the building, Tiger Pride was easy to spot, with many Doane students representing the school and playing different games in groups. Access to the arcade, mini golf, laser tag and bowling was available.
Two rounds of laser tag were played, with Doane students going up against elementary school students. Many students felt a bit of fear as three or four children targeted them. It was also a wake-up call for some when the children referred to them as “adults” while recommending a “Kids vs. Adults” laser tag match.
Students shared pizza and various snacks for a midday lunch and enjoyed multiple rounds of bowling.
After the event, some students also went to Chipotle and Wing Stop for dinner, carpooling together and ensuring that no one was left behind.
There was team spirit, encouragement and playfulness, making it a great getaway for many students.
