On March 29, the Student Programming Board (SPB), Residence Life, and the Health and Wellness program collaborated to host a Dine:09 comedy showcase. The event was held at Lakeside, starting at 9 p.m. Attendees also enjoyed a meal featuring chicken strips and mashed potatoes.
Six Omaha-based comedians were invited to perform, each receiving a designated time slot. The lineup featured Cameron Longsdon, a Nebraska comedian with over 2.5 million followers on social media. He has been featured on NBC, Access Hollywood and The Today Show Australia. According to Spencer Munson, head of SPB, Longsdon helped put the show together and contacted the rest of the performers.

Students in attendance at the Dine:09 Comedy Showcase can be found listening to one of the six comedians that performed.
Other performers included Ross Doehling, a comedian and writer known for producing comedy shows and creating soundscapes to accompany art exhibitions at Studio 62; Joslyne Debonis, host of the podcast Jossin’ Around, who has been featured in several festivals across Nebraska; Noe Ramirez, a Mexican-American comedian and regular at the Omaha Funny Bone, known for blending storytelling with observational humor; Tyler Walsh, a frequent guest on Z92 radio; and Lauren Vana, who has performed at multiple festivals and was selected as the director of the Omaha Film Festival. Each brought their unique comedic style to the stage.
According to Munson, the event was a success. “It did go as planned. You can never know how the students will react to the jokes,” Munson said. “Some comedians connected more than others, but that is why it’s good to have a variety of comedic styles and personalities.”
Stay tuned for more SPB activities this week!
