
On March 25 and 27, the Tigers Men’s Tennis team competed against Kansas Wesleyan University at home and against Nebraska Wesleyan University away, respectively. The Tigers lost the first match 3-4 and won the second match 4-3. Currently, the overall record for the men’s tennis team is 4-8.
Against Kansas Wesleyan University, doubles play kicked off with senior Jose Purizaca and junior Diego Infante winning 6-2 at No. 1. In doubles No. 2, sophomore Elliot Dasell and senior Andre Hartman lost 4-6. Finally, in double No. 3, sophomore Julio Avila and freshman Christian Jensen lost their match 3-6.
In singles, Purizaca won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1, and at No. 2, Infante won 6-3, 6-4. No. 3 Dasell lost 2-6, 0-6. At No. 4, Hartman won 6-1, 6-0. In single No. 5, freshman Tanner Adams lost 1-6, 6-3, coming up short in the tie-break. Finally, in single No. 6, Jensen lost 3-6, 0-6.
Against Nebraska Wesleyan University, starting doubles play were Purizaca and Infante at No. 1, winning 6-1. In doubles No. 2, Dasell and Hartman lost 0-6. Finally, in double No. 3, Avila and Jensen lost 2-6.
In singles, Purizaca won 6-4, 6-1 and at No. 2, Infante won 4-6, 6-1, winning the tie-break 10-5. Single No. 3 was played by Hartman, who won 6-3, 6-0. At No. 4, Dassell lost 7-5, 6-2. In single No. 5, Adams won 6-2, 6-4. Finally, in single No. 6, Jensen lost 0-6, 3-6.
The Men’s tennis team was supposed to play two more games during the week, but the game against Hastings was postponed to Tuesday, April 1, at 2 p.m. and the game against Baker University got canceled because of the weather.
Apart from the home conference game this Tuesday, the Tigers will play on Thursday, April 3, at 3 p.m. at home against Bethany University. To finish the week, the men’s team will play a home game on Saturday, April 5, against Morningside at 12 p.m.
