Track and Field opens season in Kearney

Last week, the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams opened their outdoor season in Kearney, Nebraska, in the Central Nebraska Challenge.

Starting off on the Men’s side was junior Joaquin Gutierrez in the 400m where he finished in sixth with a time of 50.24. In the 800m was junior Michael Grigsby, who had a time of 1:58.02, placing him eighth.

In the 110 Hurdles were senior Zach Turner, freshman Andrew Brown and sophomore Addison Croghan. Turner finished with a time of 13.49, which placed him first with Brown following with a time of 14.27. Placing seventh with a time of 14.87 was Croghan. Also taking home first in the 400 Hurdles was Turner, who finished with a time of 51.11.

Running in the 4×100 were sophomore Devon Jackson, senior JaDae Moore, sophomore Daniel Concepcion and senior Dalton Whisenhunt, who finished with a time of 41.54, placing them fourth.

Jumping in the High Jump was senior Dylan Starr, who had a mark of 2.15m, which placed him second. Competing in Pole Vault was senior Drew Garrison, who had a mark of 4.45m, placing him sixth. Placing seventh in the Long Jump was senior Ben Renshaw, who had a mark of 6.80m.

In the triple jump were freshmen Kyler Nichols and Brown and junior Sam Boldt. Nichols had a mark of 14.94m, which placed him first with Brown following with a mark of 14.43m. Finishing in fifth with a mark of 13.54m was Boldt.

Transitioning over to throws, junior Colton Dillon placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 15.06m along with junior Andrew Schmitz who had a mark of 14.90m, placing him sixth.

 Competing in Discus were senior Trey Dicky, junior Christopher Brown, freshmen Andrew Englund and junior Cale Bessler. Placing first was Dicky, who had a mark of 54.58; Brown placed third with a mark of 51.83m. Finishing in sixth was Englund, who had a mark of 49.13m, with Bessler following with a mark of 48.65m.

Placing third in the Hammer was Dickey, who had a mark of 56.16m, along with Schmitz who placed seventh with a mark of 53.83m. And finishing off in the Javelin was sophomore Mason Crumbliss, who had a mark of 48.59m, which placed him sixth.

Switching over to the Women’s side, sophomore Neryah Hekl in the 100m placed first with a time of 11.80. Along with Hekl was sophomore RaeAnn Thompson, who had a time of 11.99, which placed her sixth.

In the 400m was junior Danie Parriott, who had a time of 58.67, placing her third alongside sophomore Kiley Hejtmanek who had a time of 1:00.16, which placed her fifth. Competing in the 400 Hurdles was sophomore Chaney Nelson, who had a time of 1:06.86, which placed her second.

Running in the 4×100 were Thompson, junior Morgan Mahoney, junior Kat Vogt and Hekl, who had a time of 47.04, placing them first. Jumping in the high jump was freshman Katelynn Kratz, who had a mark of 1.61m, placing her third.

In the pole vault was sophomore Kaylee Pribyl, who had a mark of 3.95m, which placed her second, along with junior Kennedy Stanley who had a mark of 3.45m, which placed her sixth. In the triple jump was junior Josie Garrett, who had a mark of 11.99m, which placed her first alongside sophomore Kyla Davis, who had a mark of 11.15m, placing her fifth.

Going into throws, starting off with shot put was senior Alivia Baucom, who had a mark of 13.30m, which placed her fifth. In the Discus was senior Madison Sutton, who had a mark of 50.39m, which placed her second alongside Baucom who had a mark of 49.06m, placing her third.

Also taking second in the Hammer was Sutton, who had a mark of 51.75m, along with junior Mia Knigge who had a mark of 48.72m, which placed her seventh.

Next up, the Men’s and Women’s teams will be traveling to Seward, Nebraska, on April 5, to compete in the Concordia Invitational.
