
On March 25 and 27, the Tigers Women’s Tennis team played against Kansas Wesleyan University at home and against Nebraska Wesleyan University away, respectively. The Tigers won the first match 6-1 and they also got the victory in the second match 7-0. Currently, the overall record for the women’s tennis team is 7-5.
Against Kansas Wesleyan, the doubles No. 1 senior Mariana Espinosa and sophomore Maria Purizaca prevailed 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, freshman Liz Calderon and junior Grace Schroller won 6-2. At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Isabella Castillero and sophomore Kat Johnson won 6-3.
In singles, at No. 1 singles, Purizaca prevailed 6-2, 6-2, while at No. 2 singles, Espinosa prevailed 6-2, 6-1. In singles No. 3, Calderon recorded 6-0, 6-1. At No. 4, Castillero won 6-1, 6-2. In single No. 5, Schroller lost 1-6, 5-7. Finally, in singles No. 6, Johnson won 6-4, 6-1.
Against Nebraska Wesleyan, in doubles No. 1 Espinosa and Purizaca prevailed 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Calderon and Schroller won 7-5. At No. 3 doubles, Castillero and Johnson won 6-2.
In singles, at No. 1 singles, Purizaca prevailed 6-1, 6-3, while at No. 2 singles, Espinosa prevailed 6-2, 6-4. In singles No. 3, Calderon recorded 6-3, 6-2. At No. 4, Castillero won 1-6, 6-1, and finally got the victory in the tie-break 10-3. In single No. 5, Schroller won 6-2, 6-1. In the last game, in singles No. 6 Johnson won 6-3, 6-0.
The Women’s tennis team was supposed to play two more games during the week, but the game against Hastings was postponed to April 2, at 2 p.m. and the game against Baker University got cancelled because of the weather.
Apart from the home conference game this Wednesday, the Tigers will play at home on Thursday, April 3, at 3 p.m., against Bethany University. To finish the week, the women’s team will play a double home game day on April 5, against Morningside at 12 p.m. and against Gustavus Adolphus at 4 p.m.
