Doane Golf ties for sixth at Nebraska Wesleyan meet

The Doane Tigers turned in a strong showing at this week’s two-day golf meet hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University, tying for sixth place in the team standings with a combined score of 634.

The meet opened Monday at Nebraska Wesleyan’s home course and wrapped up Tuesday in Lincoln, with both the Doane varsity squad and a B team competing.

The varsity Tigers posted rounds of 314 and 320, led by standout junior Toby Knevett, who finished tied for 8th place individually with a two-round total of 152 (74-78).

Close behind was Joshua Wassmer, tying for 19th with a 156 (76-80), showing consistency across both days.

Jack Millard and Julius Kroell each carded a 164, tying for 29th place.

Millard posted rounds of 83 and 81, while Kroell reversed that line with 81 and 83.

Rounding out the varsity lineup, Sam Arnold placed 33rd with a 165 (84-81), contributing solidly to the team total.

The Doane B team impressed with a dramatic improvement on Day Two, dropping 24 strokes from Monday to post rounds of 329 and 305.

Leading the way was Cam Binder, who shot an impressive second-round 73 to finish at 155 (82-73), tying for 16th overall.

Cauy Walters also landed in the top 20, tying for 19th with a 156 (81-75), while Noah Miller followed closely behind, tying for 23rd at 159 (83-76).

Brock Heusinkvelt joined the tie at 29th with a 164 (83-81), matching Millard and Kroell’s totals.

Following Jaime Pala, also tying the 35th position with a 167 (85-82), and Blake Skoumal rounded out the B team scoring in 40th place with a 172 (83-89).

With both teams finishing inside the top half of the leaderboard and multiple individual top-30 finishes, the Tigers showed encouraging depth and momentum.

The sharp drop in the B team’s second-round score highlighted the program’s growing potential and competitive edge.

The Doane Tigers will look to build on this performance as they prepare for their next meet, carrying forward the confidence and composure gained from a successful two-day effort.
