Men’s wrestling secures victories at Falcon Open

This past weekend, the Men’s wrestling team competed in the Falcon Open, bringing home three bracket champions. 

In the 125-pound weight class, junior Isaac Gibbs and sophomore Ray Ray Harris scored a total of 24 team points, highlighted by a stellar performance from Harris, who won an individual title after securing four bracket victories. 

Junior Matthew Terrance represented the 133-pound weight class, scoring 12 team points by reaching the semifinals with five victories and one loss. 

The 141-pound weight class, consisting of three members, contributed a collective 8.5 team points. The six-member 149-pound weight class scored a total of 10 team points. 

In the 157-pound weight class, the team scored 17 total points, with senior Ben Miller finishing third. Junior Jake Prudek represented the 174-pound weight class, scoring 5 team points before medically forfeiting in the semifinals. Senior Kolton Kammeyer contributed 4.5 team points in the 184-pound weight class. 

Two competitors in the 197-pound weight class, sophomore Jaren Jackson and junior Chase Steib, scored a combined 24.5 team points, with Jackson going undefeated in his bracket and earning an individual title. Lastly, the 285-pound weight class, represented by senior Angelo Franco, scored 2.5 team points. 

In the Amateur division, the one-man 125-pound weight class scored 2.5 points, while the three-man 133-pound weight class scored 15 team points. Unfortunately, both the 141-pound and 149-pound weight classes struggled, with the 141-pound class earning only 2 team points and the 149-pound class scoring none. 

On a positive note, the 165-pound weight class, consisting of five members, scored a collective 39 team points. This group included freshman Grayson Hagen, who finished undefeated and claimed an individual title.  Freshman Jonathan Morrison, representing the 174-pound weight class, and freshman Hunter Humphrey, representing the 184-pound weight class, each scored 5.5 team points. 

Finally, freshman Colby Reinchenbach, in the 197-pound weight class, scored 2 points before medically forfeiting, and the two-member 285-pound weight class, consisting of Freshmen Elijah Timm and  Colton McCutcheon, scored a combined 13 team points. 

Next, the Men’s wrestling team will travel to Prescott, Arizona, for the November 15 Mile High Open.
