As the semester winds down, LAR 303 courses have begun to work on their final projects. One of the LAR 303 classes has pitched a “Spin it then Bin it” campaign to Student Council in hopes of leaving campus better than they found it.

Sophomore Elson Blanding explains this would involve an advertisement campaign to keep campus clean, specifically targeting trash on Stop Day. Rather than a trash pickup, this campaign will encourage and educate students on properly disposing of their trash. The class pitched their idea in the Student Council’s open forum on Feb. 25. It was proposed that trash cans should also be widely available on Stop Day to prevent littering.

Additionally, the course “Faith and Climate Change” has begun to work on projects that navigate the intersection of climate change education and personal beliefs. Junior Eliyah Lara shared that her group is focusing on campus recycling. “My group and I thought about how recycling isn’t very recognized, like how it was for most school districts growing up,” Lara said. Their project will focus on educating students on proper recycling, in addition to a campaign to spread awareness and motivate students to recycle.

If all goes according to plan, the campus may be a little greener by the end of the year.
