On Saturday, April 11, the men’s tennis team traveled to face off against Morningside.
In the number one doubles match, senior Diego Infante and junior Elliot Dassel lost 2-6. In the number two doubles match, junior Andre Hartman and freshman Jaime Asiain Banzo lost 2-6. Closing out the doubles side, in the third match, freshmen Mats Vervloet and Miles Mollring lost 3-6.
In the first singles match, Vervloet battled back to win 1-6, 7-5, 10-5. Competing in the second singles match, Infante lost 2-6, 2-6. Transitioning into the third singles match, Asiain Banzo lost 2-6, 1-6. Taking on the fourth singles match, Dassel lost 1-6, 2-6. In the fifth singles match, Hartman lost 0-6, 0-6. Finishing off in the sixth singles match, Mollring lost 0-6, 0-6.
After the game, Asiain Banzo shared his thoughts on the day. “It was a tough afternoon for us out there, and Morningside really made us earn every point,” Asiain Banzo said. “Even though the results weren’t what we hoped for, Mats [Vervloet] showed great resilience pulling out that win in singles. We are going to take what we learned from these matches, get back to practice and bring better energy into our next one.”
The next match for the Tigers will be against Midland on Tuesday, April 14, at 1 p.m. in Fremont, Nebraska.
