Track scores big against Nebraska Wesleyan University in annual dual

On Wednesday, April 8, both Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams traveled up to Lincoln, Nebraska, to take on Nebraska Wesleyan University in a dual where both teams walked away with wins. The Women’s team had a score of 123-61 while the Men’s team had a score of 93-86. 

There were a ton of athletes who were in the top three in all categories, so starting with first in the Women’s 100m was junior Neryah Hekl, who had a time of 12.01. In the 200m junior, RaeAnn Thompson placed second with a time of 25.34. Senior Kat Vogt placed first in the 400m, where she had a time of 53.32. In the 800m was senior Danie Parriott, who placed first with a time of 2:17.00. 

Going into longer distances was senior Maddy Ramey in the 1500m, who placed first with a time of 4:59.62. And finally, in the 5000m was freshman Kristen Billings, with a time of 19:00.82, which placed her first. 

Jumping over the hurdles in the 100m was senior Josie Garrett, who placed third with a time of 14.94. In the 400m hurdles was junior Chaney Nelson, who had a time of 1:04.22, which placed her first. 

Running in the 4×100 were Thompson, senior Morgan Mahoney, freshman Elizabeth Wemhoff and Hekl, where they placed first with a time of 46.75. And in the 4×400 was Vogt, freshman Jayden Meyer, junior Kiley Hejtmanek and senior Tania Gleason, where they had a time of 3:49.38, which placed them first. 

Switching over to the Men’s running events, in the 100m was sophomore Ryland Garretson, who finished in third with a time of 10.94. In the 800m was senior Emmanuel Yego, who placed second with a time of 1:57.24. Placing second in the 1500m was senior Michael Grigsby, who had a time of 3:59.78. Finishing up in the 5000m was sophomore Porter Bickley, who finished in first with a time of 15:17.29. 

Placing third in the 400m hurdles was senior Caleb Mulder, who had a time of 55.08. Running in the 4×400 were Mulder, junior Eli Marez, Yego and senior Jonathan Zoubek, who paced second with a time of 3:19.91. 

Going into the field events was junior Jackson Kessler, who placed first in the Men’s high jump with a mark of 1.98m. In the Women’s high jump was freshman Kayley Thompson, who also placed first with a mark of 1.68m. 

Placing first in the Men’s pole vault was sophomore Ashton Pulliam, who had a mark of 4.45m. Switching over to the Women’s pole vault was freshman Avery Scott, who placed first with a time of 3.68m. 

Jumping in the Men’s long jump was junior Michael Willey, who had a mark of 7.01m, which placed him first. Along with jumping in the triple was junior Brian Cech, who also placed first with the 14.30m. Going into the Women’s long jump, freshman Addison Fahrnbruch placed first with a mark of 5.10m. Finishing up the jumps was senior Kyla Davis in the Women’s Triple, who placed first with a mark of 11.20m. 

In the Men’s Throws was senior Cale Bessler, who placed second in the shot put, where he got a 16.77m. In the discus was senior Christopher Brown, who also placed first, with a mark of 52.68m. Senior Andrew Schmitz placed first in the hammer, with a mark of 59.87m, and junior Mason Crumbliss finished with the javelin, also placing first with a mark of 58.32m. 

And finally, in the Women’s throws was sophomore Madison Heusinkvelt, who placed first in shot put, where she had a mark of 13.18m, along with the javelin, where she had a mark of 42.10m. Finishing in second in the discus was freshman Paige Bull, who had a mark of 45.88m, and in the hammer was junior Kaylie Lotspeich, who placed first with a mark of 53.07m. 

Next up, both Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams will be competing at home in the John Green Combined Events and James Dutcher Memorial on April 16-18.
