Last Saturday, Sept. 26, Doane Football had its second scheduled home game of the season against Waldorf University, where they demolished the competition with a score of 35-7.
Just three minutes into the game, sophomore Trent DePompa scored the first touchdown. With almost one minute left in the first quarter, freshman Noelyn Lozano scored the second. DePompa found himself in the end zone once again in the second quarter. Also finding the end zone was junior Cesar Linares, who scored a touchdown with 23 seconds remaining. After the first half, the Tigers were up 28-0.
In the third quarter, Waldorf scored their first touchdown of the game, making the score 28-7. However, in the fourth quarter, Linares added another touchdown, making this the Tigers’ second win of the season.
Sophomores Aidan Burns and Ricky Briones got Doane’s two interceptions.
Next up, the Tigers will take on Mount Marty University for our Homecoming game, with the kickoff being at 1 p.m. at Papik Stadium.
