Tailgate brings everyone together

Homecoming is a roaring time of year on campus, whether it’s watching the hilarious skits during the pep rally, admiring the artwork on the lakeside windows, or better yet, getting a free t-shirt at the homecoming kickoff.

But there is one event that many people look forward to: the tailgate. Tailgating is something many fans do before a football game;, it gives people the opportunity to have a meal, talk with friends and family, and, in this case, catch up and meet some people who all share the same experience.

During the tailgate, the Greek groups were busy not only mingling with friends and alumni, but some Greek groups like Alpha Omega were selling tickets for their social that was later that evening to Chi Delta, selling raffle tickets along with their Chi Delta cafe. Another popular table at the tailgate was the Asian and Pacific Islander Organization (APIO) table, where they sold their popular matcha cookies along with Refreshers, Matchas and other goodies.

Getting closer to kickoff, the Doane Dance and Cheer teams, along with the Doane Pep Band, performed a couple of songs along with showing a couple of routines. A few moments after, applause and cheers were given not only for the Dance, Cheer and Pep Band, but also because the Football team was roaring through, giving high fives, cheering alongside everyone else and many of them were just ready to get the game started.
