Doane is having speakers come in from outside of Doane to counsel students who are interested in attending law school after Doane. The upcoming event for pre-law students is a law school counseling session, hosted by University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) Law School Admissions Counselor Rachel Smith on April 17.
The counseling is good for students who want to go to law school from Doane because Doane does not have a formal pre-law program. This provides students with the opportunity to discuss the practical aspects of applying to law school and getting prepared for the Law School Aptitude Test (LSAT).
“Rachel Smith is a law school admissions counselor at UNL. She is literally the person who makes the decision about whether you get into law school or not. I can’t imagine wanting to go to law school and not wanting to hear her advice,” Professor of Political Science Tim Hill said.
This is the last time that Rachel Smith will be coming to Doane University before the August LSAT test.
“Ms. Smith has a full schedule, so she won’t be back this semester. But Doane and UNL both get something out of the relationship, so we will probably continue to plan events in the coming year.” Hill said.
For the students who are interested in attending law school after Doane but could not make it to this specific event, there are plans in the works to make more collaborations between Doane and UNL’s law program happen.
Students who are interested in attending this event on April 17 should contact Tim Hill at tim.hill@doane.edu as soon as possible, as spots are limited for the counseling.
