Women race in Iowa as Parriott sets school record in 6K

On Saturday morning, Oct. 12, in Sioux Center, Iowa, Women’s Cross Country participated in the Dordt Holiday Inn Express Classic. At the meet, the Tigers finished third overall behind Benedictine College and No. 8 Dordt University. Doane also beat Concordia University, which is garnering votes in the national polls. The Women’s team achieved one medal in the top 10 with a record-setting third overall.

Junior Danie Parriott led the team with a third-place finish and a school-record 6K time. Her time was 22:22.7. With a time of 23:26.7, freshman Mackenzy Lippold placed 23rd overall, while junior Calla Wittland finished 35th with a time of 23:44.7. Sophomore Laura Hasemann finished 49th overall with a time of 24:05.9, rounding out the team’s top five. Sophomore Grace Colbert finished 40th with a time of 23:50.3. Rounding out the top seven for the Doane Women’s team included sophomore Delaney Catron with 24:18.8, finishing in 53rd position, and Alison Bradford with 24:44.6, finishing in 70th.

The Tigers’ next meet is the Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic, which will take place at Mahoney State Park in Ashland, Nebraska, on October 26. Co-hosting with Saint Mary College (Neb.), the 2024 GPAC Championships will also take place on the same course in November.
