On Jan. 24 the Student Programming Board (SPB) presented a Glow Casino Night in Arts & Ed 236/238. Kicking off at 9 p.m. sharp, the event featured over $1,500 in prizes including TVs, speakers and AirPods. The event consisted of over 10 casino and Minute-To-Win-It games. Throughout the night, students got to enjoy free snacks and refreshments with glowing decorations.

The Casino night is an annual event hosted by SPB.

“This is always one of our biggest events and that shows every year,” organizer Emma Jenkins, junior, said. “Personally, the moments of these events that always stand out to me are when the prizes are raffled off. It is always so fun to see everyone waiting to hear the names called and then a random burst of cheers from one area.”

Several students walked out with prizes ranging from TVs to AirPods. SPB tries to bring students together in creative and fun ways with every event, and the casino definitely achieved that. The energy in the room was exciting and contagious.

The night of the event, several on-campus groups like Community Advisors, The Guild and several athletes looking for community service hours helped with each game station. Volunteers worked in shifts, taking turns to both run game stations and join in the fun.

“Part of my job is to create events that can make students feel like home,” Spencer Munson, head of SPB, said. “There was a larger group of international students this year, which was great.”

Munson described the Glow Casino Night as a resounding success for both students and SPB. As SPB gears up for next fall, students are encouraged to explore upcoming opportunities by visiting the Human Resources website for more details on open positions.
