On Jan. 31, both Men’s and Women’s Wrestling teams took on William Penn University, where both teams walked away with a win against the Quakers.
Starting with the women’s team, in the 103 was junior Karina Vang, who added five points to the Tigers’ score, which brought it to 5-0. In the 110 was freshman Jaden Breeden, who also added five points to the Tigers’ score. Also adding five points to the Tigers’ score were freshman Julia Breeden in the 117, senior Cristelle Rodriguez in the 124 and senior Ashlee Palimo’o in the 131, which brought their score to 25-0.
Winning by forfeits were sophomore Bridgette Sotomayor in the 138 and freshman Lilianna Martinez in the 207. Adding four points to the Tigers’ score were junior Aevri Ciha in the 145 and sophomore Aspen Barber in the 160. Finishing off for the Tigers was sophomore Hailey Romero in the 180, who added five more points. With this, the Tigers had a final score of 48-0.
Switching over to the Men’s teams, starting off in the 125 was senior Hunter Bennett, who won by a forfeit, which gave the Tigers six points.
In the 133 was junior Matthew Terrence, who added three points, which brought their score to 9-0. In the 141 was junior Devin Avedissian and in the 148 was senior Nate Lendt, who both added five points to the Tigers’ score.
Gaining six points in the 157 was junior Ben Miller, which brought their score to 25-0. Competing in the 165 was returning senior Kody Hahn; however, William Penn took the points, which brought the score to 25-5.
Adding five points each were senior Benjamin Dobler in the 174, senior Tyson Beauperthuy in the 184 and, by forfeit, returning senior Bradley Antesberger in the 197. Finishing up for the Tigers was returning senior Kasten Grape in the 285, who added six points to their score, which brought their final score to 47-5.
On Feb. 8, the Women’s team will be traveling to Fremont, Nebraska, to take part in the Warrior Open, whereas the Men’s team will be traveling to Mitchell, South Dakota, to take on Waldorf University, Dakota Wesleyan University and Morningside University in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Duals.
