Women’s Wrestling at Warrior Open

On Feb. 8 the Women’s team traveled to Fremont, Nebraska, to compete in the Midland Warrior Open.

Starting off in the 103 was sophomore Kim Navarette who had a score of 1-2, competing in the 110 was freshman Jaden Breeden who ended with a score of 3-2, which placed her fifth. In the 117 was freshman Julia Breeden who had a score of 4-0, which placed her first, also in the 117 was freshman Mora Peterson, who had a final score of 2-2.

Competing in the 124 was freshman Kiersten Flanagan who had a score of 2-2, along with senior Brianna Membreno who had a score of 1-2. In the 131 was junior Brooke Cox who had a score of 2-2, along with senior Ashlee Palimo’o who had a final score of 6-2, which placed her fifth and finishing up the 131 was sophomore Mckenna Kisela who had a final score of 1-2.

In the 145 was sophomore Bridgette Sotomayor who had a score of 4-2, which placed her fourth. Competing in the 160 was junior Lamia Benn who had a score of 3-2, also competing in the 160 was freshman Lauren Garcia who had a score of 1-2. Placing first in the 160 was sophomore Aspen Barber who had a score of 5-0, and finishing up the 160 was freshman Payton Weese who had a score of 3-2.

There were three competitors in the 180, the first one being sophomore Hailey Romero who walked away in fifth place with a score of 4-2. Freshmans Yazmine Belk and Aileen Rueda also competed in the 180, Belk walked away with a score of 2-2 and Rueda walked away with a score of 1-2. Finishing up the competition was freshman Lilianna Martinez in the 207 where she walked away with a score of 2-2.

On Feb. 15, the Tigers will be traveling to Baldwin City, Kansas to compete in the Jimmy May Open.
