On March 9, the Tigers Men’s tennis team had their first game of the Spring break trip to Alabama, against Coastal Alabama Community College. The game ended with a tough defeat by 0-7. Due to the threat of rain and the fact that the game was a friendly, it was decided to play the different individual games in a single set of 8 games.
In doubles play, at No. 1. senior Jose Purizaca and junior Diego Infante lost 6–7, . No. 2 senior Andre Hartman and sophomore Elliot Dasell also lost their doubles match 1-6. Finally, in double No. 3, freshman Christian Jensen and freshman Tanner Adams lost 0-6. The singles games proved difficult for Doane as none of the players could secure a game win for the Tigers. In singles No.1, Purizaca lost 4-8. At No.2, Infante could not achieve a win and the score was 5-8. Single No.3 was played by Dasell, who lost 2-8. At No.4, Hartman lost 3-8. In single No. 5, Adams finished 3-8 and finally in single No. 6, Jensen lost 1-8.
Next up for men’s tennis will be on Monday, March 10, against Bethel University at the University of Mobile campus. The Tigers will try to get an important victory in the Alabama trip. It is necessary to warn that there are probabilities and warnings of rain, so it is not totally certain that the game will be played.
