On Aug. 28, Tau Sigma Zeta (TEZ) Fraternity hosted its second event of the year, a water balloon dodgeball tournament. It was held on Frees’ patio. Fraternity members hosted this event for the first time this year, and according to Roberto Cordova, a member of the fraternity, it will definitely be coming back in the spring. “We all enjoy throwing a spin on a classic game that is fun for everyone! We will definitely bring this event back as the days get warmer, so look forward to seeing it again in the spring!” said Cordova.
They planned the event out and managed to put it in 25Live, the new program designed to make activities easier to organize. “With 25Live, we need to have our events and flyers in two weeks before the event starts, which can be tricky in the case of outdoor events,” said Cordova. “We went with our standard routine to set up the day of the event by organizing teams to complete the tasks needed to ensure a successful event.”
About 10 students, aside from the fraternity members, attended the tournament. At the end, everyone worked together to clean up the patio space to keep the area well-maintained.
The event was considered a success. “It was good to see everyone who came enjoying themselves and getting into the event as much as our guys did!” Cordova said.
The fraternity is already looking ahead to future activities and wants to continue creating fun ways for students to get involved. “We want to keep building on the energy we’ve had so far this semester,” Cordova said. “Our goal is to put on events that anyone can join, not just fraternity members. Whether it’s something competitive like dodgeball or something more laid-back, we want people to feel welcome.”
Students can stay tuned to TEZ’s social media or watch for flyers around campus to see what’s next. The fraternity plans to keep hosting events every Thursday, so keep an eye out.
