Last Friday, Taylor Swift released her new album titled “The Life of a Showgirl,” and I have heard a variety of mixed opinions about it. While some people say that this is the best album, others can say the quite opposite.
Just to clarify, I am NOT a Swiftie. Now, don’t get me wrong, Taylor Swift’s music is good, but I have to be in the mood to listen to her. One day, I love her music, and the next, I think that it’s annoying. However, I decided to sit down and listen to this album. I also want to preface by saying that this is my opinion; you don’t have to agree.
Starting strong, I think my favorite song on the album is “The Fate of Ophelia.” Don’t ask me why it is my favorite; it just tickles my brain the right way. But my least favorite song is “Wood”, if you know you know.
Although I hate to say this, I am not a fan of this album because of the fact I don’t vibe with most of the songs. Along with that, the hype behind this album made me really look forward to this, but I don’t think that it compares to the quality of the album.
An honorable mention, however, is definitely the song “The Life of a Showgirl” with Sabrina Carpenter. I believe that the song would be a lot better if it were sped up just a bit and didn’t feel like it was being dragged on.
Overall, I would say that this album, despite the amazing cover art and effort she put into it, is a 4/10. The main reason I am giving her this score is that she just has better albums in general, and this one was definitely one of the harder ones to listen to.
