On March 19th, President Roger Hughes, along with his team, sent out an email to all Doane students about an incident that happened on campus that went against the values of Doane. They even said, “Incidents of this nature do not occur in isolation; they carry weight, history, and real impact.”
With that being said, no matter how stressed you are, maybe it’s school, work, or life in general, it does not give you the right to be unkind to people and make them feel uncomfortable, especially in a place where they were supposed to be safe.
Remember that you have the choice whether to do something or not, and if you have to question yourself on whether it is right or wrong, you probably shouldn’t be doing it. We are all equal on this campus. You belong here. You are loved. Don’t forget that.
One thing that Doane is really good at is providing support. For students, there are the mental health counselors Darcy, Mindy, and Myron. For faculty and staff their own confidential counselors, and a variety of others.
