As the semester ends and the campus gets quiet, many of us are thinking about the same thing: going home. For an international student, finishing finals isn’t just about grades. It is the start of a countdown to see our families again.
Living far away is hard. Even though we make friends and get used to life here, some things are impossible to replace. I really miss the simple moments, like having coffee with my mom or just talking with my dad. It is tough being in a place where you always feel like a guest. Now that there are only a few days left, I am much more excited about packing my bags than I am tired from studying.
This feeling of missing home is something almost every international student goes through. We come here to study and work hard for our future, but we never stop thinking about where we came from. No matter how much we like it here, nothing beats the feeling of knowing you are about to see your family and be back in your own country. It doesn’t matter how far we travel; the best part of the year is always the trip back home.
