Over the past week, I have been trying to figure out whether I wanted to write a normal hot take or if I wanted to write a goodbye for now. So I guess I am going to do both.
For starters, I absolutely despise group projects for so many reasons. The first one is because your peers are going to talk about “Oh, well, you don’t communicate with us.” Well, yeah, because you don’t communicate first, and whenever I want to talk about something, it’s always “Oh well, we don’t need to focus on that right now. ” Well, if you’re going to complain to me in a week, saying we should’ve gotten that part of the project done, do not tell me it’s because I didn’t communicate.
Another reason I dislike group projects is that one person does mostly all of the work. I am currently in a group project in one of my classes, and needless to say, I have been the only person doing anything. Along with that, you’re going to sit there and talk about meeting times, but whenever there are meeting times, you don’t show up to them. Therefore, nothing ever gets done. To add on top of that as well, there is always that one person in almost every group where they use AI for their entire portion of the project, and when it comes time to present the project, they have no clue what they’re talking about.
Since we are on the subject of group projects, I hope that all of your finals go extremely well, and look at the bright side, after this, we go to summer break. For some, they’re officially done with their bachelor’s degree, and others are getting ready for grad school.
But with that being said, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has/had supported me throughout this year. Thank you to the Owl staff for giving me another amazing year on staff, and more importantly, thank you to the Owl advisor, Eric Tucker. To the normal student, they would just see Elenna, Mackenzie, Brianna, Hailey and I being in charge of the Owl, but in reality, we would not be where we are if it were not for Eric.
And to our Editor-in-Chief, Miss Elenna, thank you for everything you have done for the Owl. It feels like yesterday I was meeting you for the first time, my freshman year, and it has been an honor working beside you up to this point. I hope nothing but good things in your future, and I just know that you’re going to do amazing things.
As Cardi B once said, “Ladies and gentlemen, it was lovely to have you this year, see you next year, or not…”
