Men’s Golf places 5th at GPAC in South Dakota

Men’s Golf traveled to the Dakota Dunes Country Club in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, on April 20 and 21 to play in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Championships, the culmination of their season. 

Seven players went to the three-round tournament, with two placing within the top twenty. 

Junior Josh Wassmer and sophomore Heidar Bjarnason started strong in the first round with Wassmer shooting nine pars, two birdies, and one eagle. Bjarnason was only two strokes behind him with seven pars, one birdie, and an eagle. 

Freshman Jax Loh led the second round with ten pars and two birdies. Bjarnson was only one stroke behind him. In the third round, Wassmer and Bjarnason took the lead once more. 

The Tigers finished fifth overall, with Wassmer placing seventh and Bjarnason 16th. Overall, the team had two eagles, 25 birdies and 149 pars. They had a total of 926 (312-312-302). 

This was the last tournament of the season for men’s golf, which had a successful season, reporting several top-five team finishes. This season, three players played 12 rounds in total. Senior Cauy Walters had the lowest average score among them with a 73.58, followed by Wassmer at 74.33 and Loh with 74.67. 

Men’s Golf will return for a new season in the fall.
